Golden Theatre Restoration

Custom Sewn Damask Pattern and Prestige Velour Curtains were used for the restoration of the historic Golden Theatre.

Built in 1927, The Shubert Organization’s Golden Theatre has been home to a long list of outstanding productions, from Goodbye Again (1932) with Jimmy Stewart to 2013 Tony Award-winning Best Play "Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike."

For the 2013 restoration, Architect Francesca Russo describes how she recaptures the beauty of the original structure, “First we review historical documents including drawings, photographs and periodicals; then we have a paint analysis completed to determine the original palette. With this information, we recreate the essence of the original design, often utilizing contemporary products that mimic the original materials. We work with fabricators that are knowledgeable about the past as well as being aware of contemporary theatre crafts requirements.”

Working closely with Ms. Russo, Rose Brand provided the soft goods for the restoration, including the main stage curtain, valance, trim, house curtains and railing fascias.
